Siobhan O'Neill, NI Mental Health Champion spoke at the #APGLD on the new Mental Health Strategy and the need for input from as many people and organisation's as possible. The new strategy will focus on early intervention, social & emotional development & mental health research.
Mark Lee, Director for Mental Health, Disability and Older People from the @healthdpt is sharing the latest updates on the new Mental Health Strategy 2021-2031 with the virtual #APGLD. Feedback has been central in developing the new strategy.
Janet, Linda & Ursula from @DirectorCAN presented at the #APGLD on the use of language to describe people with a learning disability. Words such as challenging, complex & behavioural problems all have an effect on how people are treated, as they are initially seen as a problem.
Louise Clarke from @NISRA at the #APGLD said that people with a learning disability who live in a residential setting or long term hospital care, will be included in the @NICensus2021 by the manager of the setting, who can by fill in a Communal Establishment Form for the census.
