✍️Misinformation on #SRHR poses a significant challenge for #AYPs in schools in @of_siaya, contributing to increased risks associated with the #triplethreat , we engaged with students in an educative conversations at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Secondary School, providing accurate information on #CSE , #Lifeskills, healthy relationships & the dangers of risky behaviors.
✍️The activity addressed the alarming rates of #teenagepregnancy, #HIV / #STIs, and #SGBV, relating to firsthand accounts from students who shared of their personal encounters and that of which they have witnessed in the communities.
✍️Addressed the positive use of social media for learning and empowerment. Recognizing that social media serves as a source of both accurate and inaccurate information, we discussed how to mitigate exposure to online risks.
✍️Peer educators emphasized the crucial role of #education and #career_development in personal empowerment and in overcoming poverty which is a significant driver of these issues facing young people.
✍️The in-school sessions, supported by the Siaya Health & Education Departments, prioritize #AYPs access to correct information & services enabling them to make informed decisions, protect them from exposure to risky behaviour and drug abuse.

Gratitude to six peer educators of our team who have successfully completed an intensive seven-day community mentorship session in West Sakwa and Yimbo East wards. This impactful program reached 56 #AYPs of age 14-24,equipping them with age-appropriate valuable skills and knowledge across a range of inspiring topics.
✍️Day One Getting to Know You and Setting Realistic Goals
Participants explored steps to achieve their dreams, focusing on building confidence in making healthy choices for a better future. Discussions emphasized responsibility, making a difference, and identifying realistic goals to work towards their aspirations.
✍️Day Two: Your Body and You
This session focused on educating participants about the physical, emotional, and sexual changes associated with puberty. It also highlighted the benefits of abstinence and fostering self-awareness during this critical stage of development.
✍️Day Three: All You Want to Know About HIV and STIs
Facilitators shared comprehensive knowledge about HIV/AIDS, risky behaviors, and the importance of understanding personal vulnerability. Participants learned to identify behaviors that increase the risk of contracting HIV and STIs and developed a deeper understanding of prevention strategies.
✍️Day Four: Identifying Risky Situations and Saying No.
This session equipped participants with skills to recognize and avoid risky situations. Using the SWAT (Stop, Wait, Ask, Think) approach, they practiced strategies to resist pressures that could lead to STIs, pregnancy, and HIV.
✍️Day Five : Protecting Yourself from Child Sexual Abuse.
Participants gained awareness about child sexual abuse, including recognizing perpetrators, identifying unsafe environments, and learning preventative measures. They were also guided on what to do in cases of abuse and informed about available resources.
✍️Day Six: All You Want to Know About Pregnancy and Peer Pressure.
This session increased participants' knowledge about pregnancy and its consequences, as well as the impact of peer pressure on decision-making. Emphasis was placed on understanding personal vulnerability to HIV, STIs, and pregnancy.
✍️Day Seven: Role-Playing Refusal and Negotiation Skills.
Through interactive role-plays, participants developed communication, negotiation, and refusal skills to advocate for abstinence. The session reinforced a sense of pride and responsibility, empowering participants to resist situations that could place them at risk for pregnancy, STIs, and HIV.

Partnering with @kilifi_youth and @MarieStopesKe through their #Youth4Health project, we engage #AYPs in Kilifi South using storytelling & participatory art-based approaches to drive peer to peer conversations enhancing their access to SRH information and services.
°During the month of #SuicidePreventionMonth we continue to raise awareness about all forms of stigma youths and #AYPs, by encouraging people to come together and engage in open conversations to prevent suicide incidents in communities and institutions.
°These conversations #Enlighten build up a well informed society, that supportive of young people's needs understanding to break down Intergenerational barriers,continue to raise awareness and create better support cultures.
