@Sareh88 @DiLeed @rapclassroom @haj_eraa @natcphd @ONS @UKGSS @LigaliOrg I've been tweeting a lot about it recently, hashtag #AllMyLanguagesCount. We've been trying to explain to @ons that asking a multilingual for the main language is like asking a parent of several children for the main child. But they're committed to English linguistic supremacy.

@RitaRosenback @ludoserratrice @ONS Well done!!! It is absurd that the @ONS allows for multiple ethnic & national identities, but only one single language. But then, ethnicity is a protected characteristics, so cannot be used to discriminate against people. But linguistic supremacy is fine... #AllMyLanguagesCount

@ludoserratrice Well done putting Italian, auguri! What the @ONS tried to achieve, insisting, against explicit & consistent expert opinion, on asking one single language is to make England look like a monolithic monolingual country where no other languages are bring spoken #AllMyLanguagesCount!

Even the most monolingual person can still recognise that languages spoken by others, which are important for them & have value for them should count

The one used most? Spoken at work? Or at home? One we feel emotionally most attached to (not always the 1st)? #AllMyLanguagesCount
