On NOV 1, 2025—the Commandant of 🇭🇰HK Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) Dr. LEUNG Sai-kwong, Johnny inspected the passing-out parade for 7️⃣2️⃣ freshly minted 🇭🇰Auxiliary Police officers👮♂️👮♀️upon their completion of the Recruit Police Constables (Auxiliary) Basic Training Course.
Speaking as the Reviewing Officer for the important occasion at📍HKAPF Headquarters🏢—the Commandant shed light on the new blood’s diverse backgrounds:

The Commandant said AUX officers’ duties have been evolving alongside social development, and that regular & auxiliary👮♂️👮♀️officers have been working more & more closely over time.
The training AUX officers receive has also been elevated non-stop to help them meet the evolving needs of society & rise to the morphing challenges posed by criminals.

●Particularly įn recent years—AUX officers have been harnessing professional know-how gained from their full-time jobs to support regular officers at different levels (e.g. the #TechnologyCrime Support Cadre comprising AUX officers has been bolstering defence against 🌐#CyberCrime & advancing🦾#DigitalPolicing with regular officers)
●A repository has also been set up—enabling regular officers to harness AUX officers’ broad spectrum of professional knowledge & fresh perspectives.

The Commandant reminded all AUX officers that the principle:
“When you put on the police uniform—remember to serve your fellow citizens with empathy.
When you take off the police uniform—remember that you are always a police officer, regardless of whether you are on/off duty.”
—applies not only to regular but also auxiliary #PoliceOfficers, as he called on AUX officers to render support to regular officers even when they are off duty.
He also cited examples of off-duty AUX officers helping regular police officers handle cases involving❗️dangerous drugs (etomidate) &❗️scams—to assert🇭🇰#AuxiliaryPolice’s tremendous contributions.

The Commandant stressed that AUX officers are regular officers’ important allies also when it comes to #CommunityPolicing.

Today (AUG 16, 2025)—the Commissioner of 🇭🇰Police Mr. CHOW Yat-ming, Joe inspected the passing-out parade for 1️⃣6️⃣3️⃣ freshly minted inspectors & constables👮♂️👮♀️of the 🇭🇰Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF)—with 6 of them becoming inspectors upon completing the ‘Inspectors of Police (Auxiliary) Promotion Course’ & 157 of them becoming rookie constables.

The Commissioner highlighted the fact that slews of citizens passionate about serving the city have applied to join the 🇭🇰HKAPF all along, and an encouraging trend has emerged in recent years.👇
In the years before 2020—an average of ≈2,300 persons applied to join the 🇭🇰HKAPF per year, with 280+ applicants hired annually.
In the previous fiscal year, the number of applicants even rose to 4,000+, with 434 of the aspirants hired✨.
