People love to talk about standing up for marginalized people, yet no one seems to care when it has to do with women in healthcare unless it has to do with substance use disorder it seems. I plan on making a video about this later, but this is Dartmouth and they talk about implementing precautions for prescribing . Watch her say that they use the original opioid risk tool, including the sexual abuse question even though it’s been updated and she acknowledges it. This is implemented in their electronic health record system to only ask women and penalize women. And then that means they get an increased amount of other precautions, such as drug screens and pill counts . In this electronic health system if you have a four or more on the opioid risk tool, you are flagged for higher risk mitigation strategies . So that means if you’re between the ages of 18 and 45 and you were sexually abused and you’re a woman then you’re penalized. She also says if a woman doesn’t want to answer, they assume it’s yes.
