I thought our #applicationcaps session was popular at #AAMC22 #AAMC2022. But at the session on moving forward post Pass/Fail #step1, we’re officially out of wall space here. We knew changing Step 1 would have seismic effects. Now we’re here in the Wild West together #meded

Whenever I talk about application caps, I frequently hear: “But IMGs have to apply to 100+ programs! If there are application caps, no IMGs will match!” This is not true. But the truth is uncomfortable to talk about. (thread)

3/ The AAMC makes enormous amounts of money from students’ fear of not matching and subsequent over applying, so there’s not much of an incentive for them to implement #ApplicationCaps

Since the announcement that Step 1 will go pass/fail, there’s been a growing false narrative that USMLE scores allowed IMGs to compete on a level playing field with U.S. MDs for competitive residencies. Here is the uncomfortable truth - and what to do about it. (thread)
