Today in #AppliedMeas homework discussion @RyanPBowles kept reminding us that "garbage in, garbage out" applies a lot to statistical models. You throw in a bunch of variables w/o any theoretical justification, you're going to get a bad model that doesn't make sense theoretically

#AppliedMeas Question of the day from #AppliedMeas class: should interpretability be considered an aspect of measurement? I would say yes b/c a practitioner probably won't find an assessment useful unless they can easily interpret it @RyanPBowles

#AppliedMeas I had a lot of fun and pain in doing my first measurement assignment. Two voices inside my brain was arguing back and forth “This should be representational theory”, “No, this is operational!” I’m going to check that out in today’s class with Dr. @RyanPBowles

@RyanPBowles Hoping I can better evaluate and address measurement issues in self-report and parent-report measures of child anxiety and certain measures of neural activity in kids (e.g., ERPs in EEG). #AppliedMeas

The last part of this week's lecture for #AppliedMeas uses the term tautological to describe the conceptualization of errors in Classical Test Theory. I actually had to look up the term before finishing watching the lecture b/c I'd never heard it before!
