How have you built the confidence to try different pedagogies in the classroom? I know the research, I think they are good ideas, but I get a bit paralyzed knowing it won't be perfect.... (Brought to you by new course redesign V3 for fall in-person) #AskTLAS #MedEd #highered

Reading "What the best college teachers do" and one chapter ends with the assertion that these best teachers are "leading intellectual lives that focus on learning" and again I ask why training in teaching & learning is not required for professors?? #AskTLAS #MedEd #Academia

Last semester my new A&P classes were in transition from our old stand alone #anatomy and #Physiology so I had a lower number. I'm now probably at full enrollment with 325 students across 2 sections this term 🙀 Give me your best large enrollment tips!! #AskTLAS #HAPS #MedEd

Alright give me your philosophical views on what the point of grades are? I STRUGGLE with this. I want them to know things, I don't want them to constantly fight for points. Has anyone successfully changed this culture in their classroom? #AskTLAS #Teaching #TeachingAcademySMHS

Post them prominently and in an accessible location. Repeatedly refer students to this location when you receive email or in-person Q's that can be answered by these resources. Tell students you will not answer Q's covered by these resources. #AskTLAS #SMHSfacdev #facdev

Get a few enthusiastic past students to record testimony stating how much these resources helped them and why they are worthwhile. #AskTLAS #SMHSfacdev #facdev

If doing regular assessments, add prompts that specifically reference your resources/objectives. Be clear that they do (before the test and in test instructions). Students who didn't bother this time might change their tune next time. #AskTLAS #SMHSfacdev #facdev

A few suggestions: Add credit or non-credit rewards for students who try out tools and report back. (Dr. Salentiny recently coaxed 15/22 students to engage by offering 'get out of late discussion response free' cards.) #AskTLAS #SMHSfacdev #facdev

How do you get students to interact with your objectives? Or more broadly, any study resources you provide? I have a list generated from past successful students, but I feel like it is under-used 😢 #TeachingThursday #TeachingAcademySMHS
