#AuthorAugust Day 4
Finally caught up!
(also I know the last post was supposed to say "Day 2" - I was in a hurry ><)

#AuthorAugust Day 30: Have you ever written fanfiction?
Absolutely. Fanfic is the reason I am an author.
I have only ever written NSYNC fanfiction. I write as MissM and my stories about sparkly dance boys can be found at

#AuthorAugust Day 23: Fave writing spot?
On my bed. I have written almost all of my fanfic stories and novels from my bed. Something about sitting at the desk is not conducive to fiction for me.
Runner up spot is the patio at the Paces Ferry Starbucks.
#AuthorAugust Day 21: Does your writing support you financially?
No it doesn't. I work a full time job that I enjoy immensely, and will until I retire. If you're interested in support me as an author, drop a one-time or recurring gift at https://t.co/FG4PrtkDg5
#AuthorAugust Day 20: What is the setting of your WIP?
Potter Lake, a cozy, Black mini-metropolis set in middle Georgia. After the collapse of the local economy, Potter Lake has shown resilience and a boom of growth, not only in residents but in sweet, small- town romances.
#AuthorAugust Day 19: Check in- word count/status update
ELYSIUM is in the capable hands of an editor. I'm waiting on the second pass to come through so I can make edits and prep the book for release. Really trying to give my brain a break before I start the next book in Sept.
#AuthorAugust Day 18- Fave format to read in?
I love, love, LOVE audio. If I can get it in audio, I do. If not, eBook. I never read print. I can't concentrate and it takes almost twice as long to read a print book. I buy print to have them signed and stick them on my bookshelf.
#AuthorAugust Day 17: Drafting or Editing?
Editing by a MILE. Drafting, for me, is like pulling teeth. Editing is more fun to me, though it can be TEDIOUS. I like the effort of revising and polishing.
#AuthorAugust Day 16:
Today's Q is easy: Trad, indie or hybrid?
I am indie, 100%. I would love to be hybrid, but the opportunity would have to be perfect because I am not built for the trad pub process.
#AuthorAugust Day 14- Biggest misconception as writer?
A. That it's easy, and B. That anyone could do it. If anyone could do it, anyone could. Never forget the art that you reach for when you need an escape is a product that comes from a skilled hand. 🥰
#AuthorAugust Day 13: What's your MC like?
Vance is 47, a Travel agent, divorced dad of three. Adventurous and ready to share adventure with someone new. Athena is 46, a nurse, mom of 1, timid but willing to be bold if it means she can be happy.
#AuthorAugust Day 12- REPORT!
Still in editing, friends! First pass is complete, final pass upcoming! No other writing, no other planning. Brain needs a break!
#AuthorAugust Day 11- Write every day or take time off?
I definitely take time off. It's impossible for my brain to jump from one project to another. I want to shorten the time I need between books by planning and prepping, but the brain brains when it wants to brain!
#AuthorAugust Day 9: Overwrite or Underwrite
I am an overwriter. I would rather cut than add but I am not against fleshing out something I just skirted over. I'm always in constant review, so it's rare that I go back after editing to add an entire chapter or story arc.
#AuthorAugust- TeaserTuesday - A short snip from your WIP https://t.co/GGnrESvHwp
#authoraugust Day 7 - Do you read other books while drafting?
Yep. My reading habits do not change while I am writing. The only difference is that when I am writing romance I read romance. Otherwise I read whatever sounds good.
#AuthorAugust Day 6: Your writing process
It's a hot mess but as long as I get to done, it works. I get an idea and flesh it out. I write until I hit a wall and put it away. Seed. Planted. That book will now bug the crap out of me as I think about it for weeks, months, years.
#AuthorAugust Day 5: Check in! Where are you- word count/status update
I am between books at the moment. Book 12 is in editing and Book 13 is in pre-writing planning. That's all I got!
#AuthorAugust Day 4: Do you read your drafts aloud?
No, tho I know we are supposed to. I HAVE IT READ while I read along, but reading aloud makes me yawn, so I don't read them myself. I use VOICEDREAM or the text to speech function on my phone/kindle.
#AuthorAugust Day 3: Playlist or silence while you write?
I usually do brown noise while I write. White noise is too sharp for my ears. Brown noise, pink noise... that's great for eliminating any distractions or room sounds. I set it for an hour or so and cook.
