As part of the work of the 3rd PDSL conference being held in Turkmenistan, the foreign minister of that country and his Burkina Faso counterpart signed an Agreement on August 5th.
This is an Agreement on Political Consultations between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of these two countries, eager to further develop their relations in the interest of their people.
With the signing of the agreement, the two parties will now hold political consultations on their bilateral relations, as well as on matters of regional and international common interests.
But it is through the signing of a Framework Agreement that the priority areas of cooperation will be clearly defined between this country and Burkina Faso, which established diplomatic relations in 2016.
Turkmenistan is presented as a country with a strategic position in Central Asia, between China on one hand, and Russia and Europe via the Caspian Sea on the other.
Its economy is heavily dependent on the operation of its natural gas, the country with the world's 5th largest reserve, and its oil which accounts for 60% of its exports.
Hydrocarbons could therefore be one of the sectors of cooperation between Burkina Faso and Turkmenistan.
