In 1863, while following a Wahabi plot to overthrow the British government unearthed at Ambala, police raided the house of Maulvi Ahmadullah in Sadikpur, Patna. Maulvi’s brother Yahya Ali and many others were arrested. In 1864, Yahya and others from Sadikpur, Patna were sentenced to death, later changed to transportation to Andamans as the British did not want them to be celebrated as martyrs.
In 1864, Ahmadullah the organiser of the militant aspect of the Wahabis in Patna was arrested and tried. The Judge at Patna sentenced Ahmadullah to death with forfeiture of his property at Sadikpur. The High Court altered the sentence of Ahmadullah to transportation for life and Ahmadullah was sent to the Andamans on the 13th April, 1865. Very soon he had the pleasure of meeting, at Andamans, his brother Yahya Ali and his other colleagues who had been convicted in the Ambala case. Soon, Karim Baksh attempted to murder Mr. Ainslie, the Judge who had sentenced Ahmadullah to death. Karim Baksh was sentenced to R.I. for 10 years.
The properties of Ahmadullah & other Wahabis were confiscated and even the villages granted by Ahmadullah to her wife in perpetual lease in lieu of her dowry prior to his arrest was not spared.
