As @fredfelt points out, if cyclists can still use the #B4044, they can do it at a level of safety not experienced since before 1950, when more miles were last travelled by bike than by car. @OxonTravel @OxfordshireCC @AndrewGant3 @misteredgeley

🚲🚶🏻‍♀️This is a major boost to cycle funding from Boris! We mustn’t forget rural areas which are often left behind when it comes to better cycle links. #B4044 Eynsham-Botley, missing link on #A4095 in North Leigh, & Lower Road in #Hanborough are just a few! https://t.co/qa6ayTGMQX

Thanks to Cllr Roberts and others campaigning for the #B4044 Community Path to be funded. The gov needs to prioritise active travel over car use @LibDemsOxon https://t.co/rNFtNUQn87

Death of a cycle rider on the #B4044 Botley to Eynsham Road last week. Write to Ian Hudspeth in protest about this tragedy. Here's a link to two sample letters to guide what you could write. https://t.co/dMOg2GIcKp Other actions to follow from Bike Safe. Please RT

For so long we feared the worst would happen on the #B4044 - and now it has. My heart goes out to friends and family. Thinking of you. #StopKillingCyclists Cyclist dies after a crash with van https://t.co/uj8fF21sxw

Worst traffic ever on #B4044 solid between Botley and Swinford Bridge. Cycled past 4 miles of stationary traffic. #quickerbybike #cyclepathplease. Surely time to get rid of #SwinfordToll? So much #timewasted and unnecessary #pollution. @OxfordshireCC @cllrbartington @cycloxoxford

#OCCFullCouncil @cllrbartington tells the Leader of the Council @ianhudspeth about the disappointment that the #B4044 path has been removed from the HIF bid & asks if other sources of funding can be found for it. Cllr Hudspeth agreed & urges people to contact @Jesse_Norman 🚲

Write to Jesse Norman, Minister for Transport, as requested with 2 key points, firstly the rearguard 20th century thinking of the Dept for Communities & Local Government which is so out of kilter with the need to encourage active travel, secondly ask for funding for the #B4044

@BrokenSpokeCoop @OxfordshireCC @l_cramp @CRCondors @wfocycling @MickeyCranks @cycloxoxford @thewomenstour Agree. The formula is flawed but it's the only way forward within the system to deliver the main part of the bid (which DOES include improved A40 cycleway and link to NCN5 route) . We need alternative funding for the #B4044 asap.

I will be speaking on @BBCOxford tomorrow 07:40 about the #B4044 path decision. This route is of vital importance for achieving modal shift to #sustainabletravel and mitigation of carbon emissions in #Oxfordshire @bigdamo @harryrutter @emilysmithLD
