Such a disappointment when Newscast comes on thinking what a poor replacement for #bbcthisweek it is. This Week a bit eccentric and silly yet one of the most thoughtful programmes allowing a range of views to be genuinely considered and debated.

@AlStewartOBE @ChrisMasonBBC 2/ This is what the late, lamented #BBCThisWeek excelled at. They may have had Portillo and (Alan) Johnson making fools of themselves in the opening sequence, but it was serious, grown-up stuff. There is an open TV goal for an imaginative producer.
I still much preferred #bbcthisweek to the happy clappy #brexitcast, but it got axed because Andrew Neil wanted an earlier slot and/or Brexitcast is just a lot cheaper to make. And the Government is systematically culling @bbcnews in death by a thousand small cuts...

God, I miss #bbcthisweek. How good would it be to have the insights of Neil, Portillo, Johnson and guests on the events of this week? (I know we can get @afneil at Wed teatime and Thu lunchtime, but it was the whole package and style that was more than the sum of its parts.)

@afneil Why would I want to follow @BBCPolitics ? #bbcthisweek was the only political programme worth viewing with the best political interviewer we have. When will the bbc learn? Or is it they don't want to? Try listening to what the people want for a change bbc and we want @afneil !!
@afneil #bbcthisweek I cannot comprehend the decision to close down this programme. Only truly independent and incisive political prog on that channel. Have to think political pressure at micro or macro level.
