First storm forecast for the BC south coast regarding this weekends low, as models begin to come together.
Coastal sections of Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, and Sunshine Coast should prepare for possible outages.
#BCFerry delays are possible on Saturday
For some areas, primarily Greater Victoria, this may be a long duration SE wind event, as the low brings along its blustery weather as early as Friday afternoon.

Peak wind gusts forecast and timeframe by location:
• Western Vancouver Island:
Peak SE wind gusts of 80 to 100km/h (veering to SW Saturday morning)
Timeframe: Pre-dawn hours of Saturday until midday, easing during the afternoon.
• Northern Vancouver Island:
Peak E or SE wind gusts of 60 to 80km/h, except 90km/h near east facing shorelines.
Timeframe: Saturday morning and afternoon.
• Eastern Vancouver Island:
Peak SE wind gusts of 50 to 70km/h, except 80km/h near Comox.
Timeframe: Saturday morning and afternoon.
• Southern Vancouver Island:
Peak SE gusts of 60 to 80km/h.
Timeframe: Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Lower Mainland:
Peak SE wind gusts of 50 to 70km/h, except 80km/h near Tsawwassen.
Timeframe: Late Saturday morning and early afternoon.
• Sunshine Coast:
Peak SE wind gusts of 50 to 70km/h, except 80km/h over exposed areas.
Timeframe: Saturday morning and afternoon.
No rainfall concerns currently exist with this weather system.
The chance of wet snow at low elevation communities is essentially eliminated now, as the track of the low is further north then models projected earlier this week.
