Happening now on the second and final day of the Bosai Exhibition & Research Dialogue.
Today’s panel brings together actors from government, academia, and development partners to discuss the way forward in disaster response, with collaboration strongly emphasized. The discussion highlights the importance of trust, sound policy, and strong research, alongside South–South cooperation.
Rwanda has identified countries facing similar disaster challenges but that have also developed strong solutions, including Malaysia and Japan. Lessons are being shared, particularly from Malaysia’s cooperation with Japan in disaster management.
The panel also stressed that the disconnect between disaster research and implementation could be bridged by establishing a Center of Excellence in Rwanda, expected to deliver practical solutions through evidence-based policy and research, while strengthening multisectoral collaboration and improving disaster preparedness and management.
