Have you come across the BOU's Diversity blog series? It's one of my favourites. All previous posts can be read here: https://t.co/9OPQVpXkDj. If you like what you see and would like to contribute something of your own, please get in touch! #BOUdiversityBlog #ornithology

After reading the #BOUdiversityBlog added my pronouns on twitter. Took 30 seconds, you couldn’t even eat a packet of chocolate buttons in 30 seconds!

Very proud to be a part of such a welcoming and diverse community that is proud to celebrate and stand with minorities

Fab new #BOUdiversityBlog by @joannaxwu: https://t.co/d9duogHBdF
Joanna writes:
"I am starting to see that being different from the traditional field ornithologist has enabled me to ask different questions than have been posed before. And in science, that can be a good thing."✨

Brilliant to see that this #BOUdiversityblog is already resonating with people. I’ve been increasingly seeing my colleagues and friends add their pronouns to profiles and signatures - one day (hopefully soon) discussions about gender will become ‘normal’ and welcomed
Here's our #BOUDiversityBlog message in a nutshell. Thanks 🙏 to BOU Council for supporting pronoun visibility across our activities. More here on how we're striving for a more inclusive #ornithology community: https://t.co/nCudpbU61W

Excellent blog by Marine Ornithologist, @howellsrj, for @IBIS_journal's #BOUdiversityBlog: https://t.co/YXxLztoKe1
Rich writes about life (and death) in seabird colonies, as well as the challenges of living with multiple sclerosis.
Thank you for sharing your story, Rich 🐧
Our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) officer, @LilaBuckingham, has written a post for the #BOUDiversityBlog:
"Putting the E, I & D into #seabirds: The Seabird Group’s plan to improve equality, inclusion & diversity"

Fancy sharing your #ornithology research more widely? #theBOUblog from @IBIS_journal is the perfect platform to write about your papers and engage with the global community.
You can also contribute to the #BOUdiversityblog like I recently did ⬇️

A really honest account of an early-career in #ornithology. I expect this will resonate with many at different levels - gender, sexuality, nationality - barriers/issues which many in our community routinely have to deal with. Great the #BOUdiversityBlog is giving people a voice
Wow! How this #BOUdiversityBlog by @shailee_shah93 resonates. As a non-academic working within #ornithology it took me many years to find myself and my place within our community. Probably not until c.10 yrs into my @IBIS_journal role that I really felt I belonged and accepted.
I see so many issues being discussed here on Twitter by #ornithology peeps. Please think about writing something for the @IBIS_journal’s #BOUdiversityBlog and share your story with others in our community.
Food for thought. Thank you, @ShokoSugasawa and @IBIS_journal. Simply and beautifully expressed shared feelings. Congratulations on your achievements, Shoko. 😊🤗#BOUdiversityBlog
I’m really enjoying these new articles for the #BOUdiversityBlog. They provide different perspectives from #ornithology researchers which I suspect many of us have no or little appreciation of. Keep them coming @IBIS_journal! And if you’re interested in writing one, get in touch.
I’ve witnessed young people in adverse circumstances leave their communities in SW Mexico for ‘el norte’ (the USA) and this #BOUdiversityBlog brings home how forced migration affects community-based participatory research in ornithology and conservation.
.@juliet_vickery 'Introducing the #BOUdiversityBlog': "a gentle challenge for us to do more, as individuals, to move beyond being an ‘accepting friend’ (an ally – small ‘a’) to a real Ally who proactively supports and stands up for the LGBTQIA+ community" https://t.co/t4GxVsI0zi
Thanks Steve! We've really enjoyed reading the #BOURainbowBlog over the past year (and we're looking forward to seeing more of the #BOUDiversityBlog!)
Do check them out and feel free to ask Steve any questions using #WSTC7 and #DivSesh
I wrote an essay for #BOUdiversityBlog
I appreciate the good opportunity to output.
