In 2005, I applied for a job at @DCAL_UCL. I didn’t get it, but @BencieWoll found a way to offer me a 2 year postdoc. During that time, with Bencie’s support, we got a large grant to start the #BSLCorpus project, and I was able to stay 3 more years. I’ll always be in her debt.

The team will contribute to harmonizing #SL resources across project languages, leveraging expertise from #bslcorpus and #bslsignbank, and build on work on SL recognition done as part of ExTOL project.

@grahamhturner I'm looking at automated SL recognition. Trying to take in videos of SL and output (hopefully!) the same signing on a 3D model. Very early days but some promising initial experiments!
@grahamhturner @AdamCSchembri What Graham said. That’s how people responded in the #bslcorpus - which each of those answers! However for me, I always thought the first 3 & the last 1 to be SEE.
@jamesjoeboyle In the #bslcorpus deaf signers felt that BSL belonged to them & that it should be taught by deaf people. They said that hearing people can have any jobs they want. It’s harder for deaf people due to shit Ed, oppression etc. So shd leave BSL teaching to them.
