10 cohorts and over 1,500 women later, this is more than just a program, it is an unfolding story!
Bitcoin Dada started from a simple but important observation made by our founder, @marcelorraine
Many African women were curious about Bitcoin, but there were very few spaces where they could learn in a way that felt clear, practical, and welcoming. The information available often felt too technical or disconnected from their everyday realities.
This led to the decision to create a space specifically for women. A space where learning could happen without pressure, where questions were encouraged, and where understanding Bitcoin was the priority.
From the first cohort to where we are today, that focus has remained the same. Women come in with curiosity, and over time, build confidence and clarity in how Bitcoin works and how it can be used in real life.
What started as a small initiative has grown into a community of women across Africa who are learning, engaging, and finding their place in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
As we mark 4 years of Bitcoin Dada, we are reminded that this journey is still ongoing. There is still more to learn, more women to reach, and more work to be done.
And we are just getting started.

Cohort 10 began with 150 students. 90 sat for the exams, and 70 met the pass mark.
Today, we celebrate the new plebs⚡️.
Over the past 8 weeks, this cohort committed to a rigorous learning journey that required consistency, discipline, and a willingness to engage with concepts that are not always easy to grasp. This was not passive participation, it demanded focus, late nights, active learning, and the courage to step into unfamiliar territory.
What these students have achieved goes beyond passing an exam. They now hold a deeper understanding of Bitcoin, a stronger awareness of financial systems, and a foundation that positions them to engage more meaningfully with the future of money.
We are especially proud to recognize our Top 10 students, who demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the program. Representing Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, and Zambia, they reflect both the strength and diversity of this cohort.
Cohort 10 is a clear reminder of what happens when women are given access to knowledge and choose to fully commit to it. The results are not just visible, they are impactful.
We celebrate this milestone, and we look forward to what comes next.

The #BTCDADA anthem was produced by none other than @manlikekweks ?
And yes he pulled up all the way from Arusha to Nairobi just to vibe with us at Africa Bitcoin Day!
We love him not just for the beats, but for being a true Bitcoin advocate in Tanzania (putting on it the global map) through @bitcoinarusha 🇹🇿💛

🧵 Africa Bitcoin Day 2025 Recap: A Movement in Motion 🇰🇪⚡️
On May 31st, Nairobi witnessed something powerful: a truly African-led celebration of Bitcoin innovation, infrastructure, and inclusion.
From the moment the doors opened, you could feel it: the energy, the unity, the curiosity. We gathered not only to mark Africa Bitcoin Day but to welcome the newest plebs into the ecosystem, Bitcoin Dadas Cohort 8 and @DadaDevs 2.
The room was a vibrant mix of African fabric, bold faces, and eager minds. Guests were welcomed with warm vibes, thoughtfully curated kits, and a guided walkthrough of the day’s program.
Then, the day officially began not with pomp, but with purpose. A message from our founder @marcelorraine set the tone: “Africa must not be left behind.”

Like #ManLikeKweks said, “I haven’t touched a Kenyan sh!”
Used #GorillaSats to turn my Ug shs into satoshi, then paid via #Tando using M-Pesa.
It’s not a miracle. It’s Bitcoin in real time.
And I just graduated from #BtcDada! Super excited ✨

In kenya and haven’t swiped my card once or used much cash. I topped up my BTC wallet in Ug using Gorilla Sats (just need a Lightning address), and I’ve been paying bills via M-Pesa through Tando. No need for FX, no need to get a local M-Pesa line. #BitcoinAfricaDayKe #Btcdada
The key to getting more people into Bitcoin is making the tools simple and locally relevant. That’s why platforms like Tando in Kenya or Bitika are great examples of how this can work in practice. #AfricaBitcoinDayKe #BTCDada

Conversations about Bitcoin using layman's language. Bitcoin needs a stage that explains it as it is. #btcdada

Watching a brilliant panel on Africa’s Bitcoin future—deep dives into infrastructure, innovation & sovereignty. As a recent Dada grad, I’m inspired. Africa is the blueprint.#btcdada #AfricaBItcoinDayKe

Imagine being the only one introduced to the panel session by the CEO herself 😫
It was an honour @marcelorraine. Thank you so much, ma'am ☺️
It was indeed one of the best events so far. Every step of the summit was a hut back to back.
