Question 5
Are we playing/coaching to prove ourselves or to express ourselves?
What are the differences ?

Question 4
What are your reflections on this quote from @JonnyWilkinson
“I went from thinking I could be an important person by winning things to realising that winning doesn’t make you important.
I realised that it’s better to be no one. Because that is freedom.

@weeksie1979 @BTLBC_ Fair point, Henry. I was meaning in the sense that instead of fearing pressure, it potentially could be achieved quicker? #BTLBClive
Question 2
What is pressure made of?
We talk about pressure all the time, but are we clear on what it is and what it isn’t?

@BTLBC_ One priority - to develop the person & the player whilst having fun playing the game we love.
#BTLBClive
@BTLBC_ Don’t ram your ideas down players’ throats as the only solution - explore solutions together & be honest to admit you don’t have all the answers.

@BTLBC_ What’s important now? What’s less important now? What would you like it to look like in 6/12 months time?
Start with the end in mind and work backwards.

@BTLBC_ This year, after reading the book we start with one that is "Our problems, our soluttions" and we are trying to link it with not looking who´s guilty if there is a problem, just look the best way (our best way) to solve it #BTLBClive
@BTLBC_ Being Irish, I ask the players "any craic?" at the start of a training session, which cracks them up everytime
As a coaching group, I frequently ask others "Are we asking the right questions?"; to get better understanding, you have to start with the right questions

Q5. High performance environments sometimes have catchphrases as part of their internal language.
E.g. “Create fun and a little weirdness” (Zappos)
Does your team have any catchphrases that you use? If so, how do you link it back to your purpose?

@BTLBC_ Quoting Brown “Imperfections are not inadequacies; they are reminders that we’re in this together"; as a coach, identifying you're not the best equipped person & asking for help from within your playing group shows you are still driven & assisting to common goals

@BTLBC_ Have an end goal. Rather than achieve something at the end of the season, have a target you want to get to in 3/5 years time. #BTLBClive
Q4. Coyle discusses how purpose drives these identified high functioning groups; what can we do as coaches to strengthen the purpose for our playing groups or athletes?
#BTLBClive
@BTLBC_ As a coach or a leader, during any feedback sessions, start by asking open ended questions. This shall help better understand the processes used & reasons why people made the decisions they chose. Athletes shall feel heard & any advice offered shall have more impact
