After a fantastically interesting event in #BantryLibrary, @wcorklitfest, I took @paul_mc_veigh's short story collection to keep me company at dinner. I'm already engrossed in these humorous, touching, sharp, very real stories. Such a wonderful festival programme this year.

West Cork Literary Festival 2025 continues at #Bantrylibrary.
In Bantry Library today you can see:
At 1pm, Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Heather Clark. Her first novel, 'The Scrapbook' is the story of a consuming love haunted by European history and inherited guilt.
At 5pm, internationally renowned Swedish photographer Lina Scheynius and translator Saskia Vogel. Lina Scheynius is a photographer known for her distinct, diaristic style of image-making. Saskia Vogel is a writer and translator from Swedish and German into English.

West Cork Literary Festival begins today. 📚 🎉
#Bantrylibrary will play host to a wide range of FREE events throughout the festival.
Taking place in Bantry Library today we have:
At 13:00. Come Sit Awhile: Dementia-Friendly Stories and Memories.
The launch of the second edition of 'Come Sit Awhile', a collection of dementia friendly stories and memories. A number of readings will take place as part of the event, including the winning entries from the Age Friendly short story competition.
At 17:00: Opening Reception of West Cork Literary Festival.
Join in Bantry Library as we welcome audience members, workshop participants, festival sponsors and supporters and of course the writers who will be with us over the course of the festival. 🌟

As part of Science Week , #Bantrylibrary were thrilled to host an ''Anyone4Science'' event , hosted by Alison Robertson, where 4th class pupils from Our Lady of Mercy N.S participated in a Forces workshop. In this workshop the children made a force meter and tested the strength of jelly sweets. They learned about pulling forces, fair testing, repeatable and reliable testing, and how incredibly strong jelly sweets are!
The children loved taking this hands-on approach to science.

#Bantrylibrary were thrilled to host a singing workshop for children last Saturday. Thanks to AnnMarie Murphy for leading the children in a lovely afternoon of song, where they certainly raised the roof ! This was part of the West Cork Feel Good Festival which is running for the month of October.
