فهي تفترس المنّ والذبابة البيضاء والتربس، وتعمل على تحلل المواد العضوية
تتغذى أيضا على بقايا النباتات وتحسن خصوبة التربة.

الجدير ذكره أن هذه #الحشرات لا تتغذى فقط على الحشرات الضارة كالذباب والبعوض، بل تتغذى أيضًا على #الحشرات_النافعة، لأن البعض قد يساوي بينها وبين الحشرات المستخدمة في #المكافحة_الحيوية مثل #المتطفلات و #المفترسات

يلاحظ في هذه الأيام فورانات في نوع من الحشرات من رتبة Odonata الرعاشات وهي حشرات نافعة حوريتها توجد في المياه مثل البرك والمستنقعات وحشراتها الكاملة طائرة وليس لها أي ضرر بل تعتبر من الحشرات النافعة لتغذيها على البعوض وغيره من الحشرات الضارة.
