Aishetu (everyone
calls her Aisha) is
a first-generation American born in Boston/Cambridge to Nigerian parents in Section 8 housing.
Her mother is Yoruba with deep Bini roots through grandmother Esohe Ogbebor —
a proud Bini woman whose language, love, and fierce protection shaped her. Aisha is proudly Esohe’s first granddaughter.
Her father is Nupe
from Niger State.
From the projects to Cornell (BA Economics) → Harvard Business School (MBA 2002) → Harvard Kennedy School → Stanford Distinguished
Careers Institute.
She refused to let circumstances
write her ending.
Nearly 20 years
in global finance:
Goldman Sachs NY,
work with
President Obasanjo’s govt on NEEDS + $18B Paris Club debt write-off,
World Bank across LatAm/Eastern Europe/East Africa,
then Lehman,
Morgan Stanley, Standard Chartered,
and GM & Head of IB West Africa at Rand Merchant Bank.

A while back, the Aishetu Fatima Dozie family and I stayed
in the same apartment building in Ikoyi, Lagos.

I met Aisha a couple of times by the staircase.
We introduced ourselves, exchanged contacts, connected
as neighbours.
Small world. Beautiful world. Two women of Bini/Ogbebor heritage, both featured in this series, once sharing
the same Ikoyi landing.
That is why
she stands out.
She bridges the projects
and the boardroom,
Wall Street
and Lagos, finance
and beauty, ambition and faith, motherhood
and public service —
all while remaining warm enough to exchange contacts with a neighbour on the stairs.
She reclaims “bossy” as a compliment. She leads from the front. She gives other ambitious women permission to look good, feel good, and do good.
