Quiapo’s orginal name is kiyapo, a water plant along Pasig River. Remember this bugtong? - “Sampalok na hindi mahinog-hinog, kiyapong hindi lumubog-lubog.” In a 1920 census, it was recorded that Quiapo still had 120 carabaos, 384 horses, 457 native pigs, and 30 goats.
