i'll say it again, it all goes back to education. The @GOP started dismantling what was taught way back under #Bush2 and has never stopped hammering away at the true history of what people need to know to react intelligently to the actions of our government. An uninformed population is a frightened population and frightened people are often easily drawn to those who loudly radiate the appearance of power and that aggression placates them by playing to their prejudices and appealing to the sense of superiority so many would like to have. and the relentless mindless repetition of ugly tropes doesn't help either. Especially when an entire political party works tirelessly to instill these ugly messages every single day in as many venues as possible. instead of stressing the commonality of people every effort is made to create impossible divides by concentrating on the negative.
