Michael talking about suicide in the context of childhood with Jennings Burch (the author of They Cage the Animals at Night, which Michael really resonated with) 😭 and people are trying to make a criminal out of this man! This world really is a hell for sensitive hearts 💔 Burch later said Michael told him he also felt like an orphan, constantly moving from one place to another… They Cage the Animals at Night is a memoir about being abandoned as a child and growing up in different foster homes. In the book, Jennings has a stuffed animal named Doggie, which becomes his constant companion. At one point, when he asks why the nuns take the animals away at night, he’s told, “They cage the animals at night.” And look at Burch, still holding onto it😭This whole toy thing also reminds me of the doll on Michael’s deathbed. People mocked him for that, which I found really touching back then…
