I keep seeing business owners complain that no one wants to work hard anymore. They say workers aren’t dependable these days. This is Andi Owen, the CEO of Michigan-based MillerKnoll, owner of the Herman Miller and Knoll brands. She took home a $1.2 million bonus last year, bringing her total income to nearly $5 million. This is how she treats her employees. Her response to employee concerns is for them to suck it up and stop complaining about not being able to feed their families because they were depending on a bonus. She mentioned leading by example. Sounds like she practices more of a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ mentality. …the mic drop at the end would have made me quit. I’m just sayin’. Treat your employees better and they’ll usually take care of you during the tough times.
