As part of #CMATS project team, delighted to see @IrishRail drive & momentum on this. Opportunity for Transit Oriented Development, fully accessible & quality built environment at most suburban stations not least Tivoli & Blackpool. P+R critical for city events & commuter parking
At the launch of a landmark phase of the €1bn+ #Cork Commuter Rail Project - details here

An all too familiar tale for bus services in Cork. Despite progress, need to expedite #CMATS proposals for state-of-the-art public transport system that includes light rail, P+R, bus priority, accessibility, driver recruitment & yes, competition/performance based contracts

📢The number of trains that will operate between Cork city and the county's eastern region will treble
@IrishRail will begin signalling upgrades later this year

Will #CMATS do enough to make Cork a bike friendly city?
Check out this great piece by Dr Catherine Conlon @catheri70835198 in today's Irish Examiner.
Dr Catherine Conlon: Bikes essential to arrest cycle of climate failure https://t.co/duy0DpnAnT
There was some (understandable) scepticism of #CMATS pre-pandemic but hugely pleasing to see @IrishRail new train stations + frequencies take shape, some cycle routes & BusConnects. Resourcing across board being ramped up. Important to stay engaged to maximise Q of delivery
We held a productive meeting with @IrishRail this morning, discussing #CMATS developments and projects underway and in the making for #Cork. Keeping Cork connected #representingyou

@CorkChamber welcomes the Government’s recent approval of drawdown of €74m in Q3 from the #EU recovery & resilience fund to upgrade #Cork’s commuter rail network. Project delivery & development of stations along suburban rail routes in #CMATS urgently required. #corktogether

We are now 40% into the "short term" and 20% into the "long term" timeframes that #CMATS expected for Cork a:
-200km primary cycle network
-150km secondary cycle network
-60km inter urban network
-140km greenway network

Cork's only #CitizenScience @TelraamTelraam traffic counter is showing bicycles as just under 10% of all traffic for the last few weeks on one street in Douglas
As part of #CMATS, Cork is investing over €230m to bring cycling levels up to 4%, by 2040

@dtexlyn @sendboyle @jklong14 Car free days, Ciclovias etc are in #CMATS so there is a supportive policy basis for it. Tying it in with on-street markets, events & free P&R etc helps in my experience. It normally does require some notice period to do but I think people generally amenable to it.
Filtered permeability would enable two way driving and cycling while ensuring that through traffic is directed towards the Mallow Rd and Mulgrave Rd.
Cork already has filtered permeability solutions and they are recommended in #Cmats

In a first for #Cork, there is a design feature to help people push bikes up the steps from the Shakey Bridge to Sunday's Well
Nice to see this recommendation in #CMATS come into effect already

Great analysis by @Mr_R_Prasanna, Cork's #1 #activetravel lights man!
System as it stands is in obvious contradiction of Principle 01 and 02 of #cmats. (And we wonder why everyone drives & we have traffic problems...)
Please address urgently @corkcitycouncil

It also means that we need implementation of the public transport & cycling provision outlined in #CMATS. There will be a bigger role for likes of @GoCarIreland for those who need a car occasionally but not own one. Our public realm simply has to improve as well to support this.
Story by @EoinBearla: Jacobs Engineering Ireland @JacobsConnects have been appointed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland @TIITraffic and National Transport Authority @TFIupdates to consult on route selection for the proposed Cork Luas. #CMATS.

"What might have been a 2030 plan is now a 2020 plan.”
The Cork Bike Network promised in #CMATS is a 2030 plan. The climate emergency and the pandemic should mean we look at ways to bring it forward.
"The biggest improvement with electric bikes would be that there’s going to be no hills [to climb] on the northside anymore. Far more places in the city and in the metro area will become more navigable by bike”
Our Vice-Chair, Stephan on the role that ebikes can play in #cmats
Cork transport plan ‘falls short and vague’ https://t.co/KgEQVAUlD4
I'm excitedly reviewing the #CMATS proposals. Expanded bike networks and high-frequency commuter trains are jumping out as fantastic, huge improvements to our sustainable transport network.
I love the Blackpool train station which will solidify it as a great place to work from
