Thanks to COSI, our pathology resident Dr. Ashly Cordero Rivera, and Wexner Medical Center for another great In Depth: Autopsy program. Great presentation by our resident today and fantastic learning experience. #COSIAutopsy @HDJaguars

Why does the right lung typically weigh more than the left lung? #cosiautopsy

@QueenA_AQueen Fun is a pretty subjective word... Pathologists don't actually spend a majority of their time performing these but since each case is it's own "puzzle" to solve, it seems appropriate to say they would feel fulfilled from helping families find closure! #COSIAutopsy

@guccileli Great question! Because organs deteriorate quickly, if the decadent was an organ donor those organs would be removed before the autopsy begins. This would of course would mean those organs would be left out of the autopsy report. #COSIAutopsy

@guccileli An adult small intestine is about 20 feet long and the large intestine is about another 5 feet. Thanks for the question! #COSIAutopsy

@mrenoom I can't speak to insurance coverage but as Dr. Fitzthum mentioned anyone who was a patient at OSU within 2 years of a medical related death would receive an autopsy for free if they wanted one. Non-medical related deaths such as homicide are left to the state. Thanks! #COSIAutopsy
