I was considering expanding it to be an #InklingsBookClub, since I’m in the midst of rereading “The Hobbit”.
@JannaFidgets @micahjmurray It’s bothered me as an abuse survivor too. I know it’s not the intent. But it’s something we’ve discussed a little in the #CSLewisBookClub to suss out it’s meaning.

One of my favorite things to do on Sunday mornings lately is to go catch up on @KatinOxford’s thoughts on C.S. Lewis from her #CSLewisBookClub discussion that I fell asleep during he previous night. (The discussion doesn’t put me to sleep, I, just go to bed early.)
It’s a book worth studying for sure and it reflects a lot of the man himself—full of incredible prescient insight all with the limitations in biases of the day.

Okay, final thoughts!
THS is a weird book. I’m curious as to whether it would’ve turned out the same w/o Charles Williams influence. On reread I’m delighted define that I can appreciate the prophetic politics while still critique problematic gender ideas. #CSLewisBookClub
I hate this line. I always have. And on reread, I still hate it. #CSLewisBookClub
I don’t like dunking on Richard Dawkins cuz people do it too often & I think people overestimate his influence. (Progressive atheists & Christians hold him equally in disdain) But this does remind me of his “purely academic” tweet abt eugenics several weeks ago. #CSLewisBookClub
The scene where Mother Dimble, Camilla, and Jane choose their robes for dinner is fascinating to me because it completely upends the “problem of Susan”. Women being interested in clothing was never the issue. #CSLewisBookClub
These lines are a little annoying and a little stereotypical—excusing men for ignoring their wives. It also strikes me as something an unmarried bachelor wld write abt marriage. A decade or so later, I’m pretty sure Lewis never got tired of listening to Joy. #CSLewisBookClub
And this is all very nice and noble magic speak, but it conveys a serious lack of understanding towards WHY women use birth control—an almost naiveté, actually. #CSLewisBookClub
(Once again, I must express my deep-seated wish that we still had the correspondence between him and Joy Davidman, where they argued about birth control). #CSLewisBookClub
Bah. There’s a huge part of me here that wants to yell “HOW ABOUT YOU MIND YOUR BUSINESS, MERLIN.” We also kind of see Lewis’ disapproval towards birth control—that “I did not know till now that the usages of Sulva were so common among you” line. #CSLewisBookClub
