@ItsDave_ADA Friend, I don't know how you feel about Night, but I know how you feel about ADA. We're on the same team. Since 2021. Slowly moving forward. Night launched mainnet in March. Give us time. #cardanoarmy
That's how it is. Cardano critics who are developers only know how to write a lot. There's no substantive conversation. And when it turns out they're wrong, they quickly delete their posts

eUTXO: How Cardano Solved a Problem Ethereum Never Had to Name
A blockchain's settlement model isn't just a technical detail it determines how applications scale, how predictable fees are, and how safely smart contracts execute under load. #Cardano deliberately didn't follow Ethereum's account-based model, instead building on Bitcoin's UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) model and extending it to support smart contract logic. Hence the name: Extended #UTXO, or #eUTXO.
In classic UTXO, each transaction output is an indivisible "coin" much like a physical banknote you either spend whole or leave untouched. Cardano extends this output with two additional pieces: the contract's own state (a validator script checking whether the transaction attempting to spend this output has the right to do so), and a datum field β arbitrary data attached to that specific output, which the contract can read during validation. This extension contract logic plus datum attached to every output is what separates eUTXO from plain Bitcoin-style UTXO, allowing it to support logic comparable to Ethereum while behaving very differently at execution time.
The first real advantage is parallelism. In #Ethereum's account model, every transaction touching a given contract (say, a popular #DEX) must be queued, because all such transactions operate on the same shared contract-account state a fundamental source of network congestion and fee wars during peak demand. In eUTXO, each transaction consumes its own, precisely defined set of input outputs, unrelated to any other transaction's state. If two transactions aren't trying to spend the exact same output, they can be processed in parallel with no mutual blocking a structural property of the model, not just an optimization.
The second advantage is deterministic, offchain fee calculation. Because an output, along with its datum and validation logic, is known in advance before a transaction ever reaches the network, a wallet or application can precisely calculate script execution cost locally, before submission. On Ethereum, a user sets a gas limit under some uncertainty, since actual execution cost partly depends on network state at the moment the transaction is included in a block hence "out of gas" failures and sudden fee spikes during congestion. In eUTXO, that kind of surprise doesn't structurally occur.
The third advantage, arguably the most important from a security standpoint, concerns behavior on script failure. On Ethereum, a failed smart contract transaction can leave chain state partially updated and inconsistent before a revert is fully processed this is part of what underlies classic bugs and vulnerabilities (reentrancy and related attack vectors rely precisely on the ability to manipulate state mid-execution). In the eUTXO model, a transaction that fails validation is simply never accepted and never touches ledger state at all there's no intermediate, "half-executed" state to exploit. The ledger either fully reflects the effects of a valid transaction, or looks exactly as if the attempt never happened.
This architecture does come at a cost writing more complex stateful applications (e.g. ones where many users continuously share a single resource in real time) can be conceptually harder than in an account-based model, which is exactly why tools like Hydra and specific design patterns in Plutus emerged: to make these use cases workable on eUTXO without sacrificing its core advantages.
