The September 3rd @WrestShowcase Championship victory is @TheMattCardona’s first tournament win since he outlasted 53 other competitors to become the inaugural Internet Champion in April of 2011.
Generally Cardona (like Andre) is more of a battle royal specialist.

Very unfortunate that @TheMattCardona has had the best run of his career disrupted by injury.
Nevertheless, these runs with the @aiwrestling Absolute & Intense Championships are the longest title reigns of his career so far.
And he’ll be back soon. #BeltCollector #CardonaCount
Last night at @aiwrestling #AbsoXV, I had to relinquish my AIW Absolute & Intense Championships.
These minor setbacks just make me even hungrier.
The REAL champ is STILL here!

@TheMattCardona is the only #ImpactWrestling Digital Media WORLD Champion to defend that title on the main card.
Other than Swann taping a title defence before he’d actually won the title, Cardona is also the only champ to retain the gold on TV.
