Twisted irony of today's front page Telegraph story downplaying Islamophobia, only then to receive 5,000+ Telegraph-reader comments littered with Islamophobia. Reinforces why UK Gov must take this grave issue more seriously, especially in the media @Telegraph #Islamophobia #CfMM
UK media's coverage of the Glasgow gang highlights the bias: when perpetrators are white, they're called "sex abuse gangs," but when Muslim/Pakistani, they're labeled "grooming gangs." as per @BBC@SkyNews @itvnews @guardian and @ScotNational #groominggangs #cfmm #mediamonitoring

♦️ New Report Alert: "Media Bias Gaza 2023-24" by the Centre for Media Monitoring (#CfMM) unveils significant biases in the coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Figures show a stark portrayal imbalance. #MediaBias #GazaReport
♦️ Key Findings Highlighted: Analysis reveals Israelis are depicted as victims using emotive language 11 times more frequently than Palestinians, showcasing a clear bias in language use. #MediaCoverage
♦️ Framing Imbalance: An overwhelming majority of TV channels advocate for "Israel's right to defend itself" at a staggering ratio of 5:1, marginalizing Palestinian rights in the narrative. #FramingBias
♦️ Voice Disparity: Israeli perspectives dominate the airwaves, being mentioned almost three times (3x) more than Palestinian voices on broadcast TV. Online platforms show a similar trend with nearly double the mentions. #MediaRepresentation
♦️ Contextual Oversight: A significant 76% of online articles adopt the "Israel-Hamas war" frame, while only 24% include "Palestine/Palestinian" in their narrative, indicating a concerning lack of comprehensive context. #ContextMatters
♦️ Misrepresentation and Vilification: The report identifies a systematic vilification of pro-Palestinian voices, with right-wing media mislabeling activists as antisemitic or pro-Hamas. #MediaMisrepresentation
♦️ Bias in the Forefront: Right-wing channels & publications are notably leading the charge in misrepresenting pro-Palestinian protestors, with stark accusations of antisemitism or violence. #BiasInMedia
♦️ Report’s Extensive Analysis: Diving into over 176,627 TV clips and 25,515 online articles, CfMM’s report meticulously examines the skewed portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. #MediaAnalysis
♦️ Unverified Claims Scrutinized: Of 361 TV news clips mentioning “beheaded” AND “babies,” a significant portion lacked sufficient challenge—highlighting a bias in challenging claims. #FactChecking
♦️ Framing Favoritism: The data shows a strong bias with TV and online news overwhelmingly favoring "Israel's right to defend itself," minimizing Palestinian voices and rights. #MediaFavoritism
♦️ Language Bias Exposed: The disparity in emotive language usage starkly highlights Israeli suffering over Palestinian casualties, reinforcing a one-sided narrative. #LanguageBias
♦️ Systematic Misrepresentation: False allegations against pro-Palestine advocates by media outlets contribute to harmful stereotypes and undermine legitimate activism efforts. #AdvocacyUnderFire
♦️ Intersection with Islamophobia: The report connects an increase in Islamophobic hate crimes with media portrayals, noting a 335% rise since October 7, impacting the Palestinian cause. #Islamophobia
♦️ Racism Hierarchy Noted: The report observes a distinct hierarchy in reporting anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, amidst a significant increase in hate crimes post-October 7. #RacismInMedia
♦️ Humanizing Palestinians: Emphasizing Palestinians' humanity and rights, the report calls for a balanced portrayal that acknowledges their longstanding struggle. #HumanRights
♦️ Media Fairness Urged: CfMM Director Rizwana Hamid calls for media integrity, stressing the necessity for fairness, accuracy, and inclusivity in conflict coverage. #MediaFairness
♦️ Veteran’s Insight: Peter Oborne’s foreword suggests some misreporting is due to ignorance, pointing out the paradox of Israeli journalists often being more forthright about Gaza than their British counterparts. #JournalismEthics

Seems like a new type of constant function market maker (#CFMM). LAMMbert , never heard of it, probably too complicated and inadequate but beautifully elegant enough to be included in my next paper on AMM.
Introducing LAMMbert, a concentrated liquidity AMM defined by the Lambert W function.
I'll confess that just over a year ago I had never even heard of the Lambert W (LW) function. Now I seem to see people talk about it all the time. I first came across it myself whilst doing research for the DEX we're building at @eulerfinance and playing with the maths behind popular AMMs like the @Uniswap / @Bancor / @Balancer constant-product curves and @CurveFinance StableSwap curve. That's how I came to discover LAMMbert.
The LW function, often denoted W(x), is a bit of a strange function, defined such that
W(xe^x) = x.
It is sometimes called the product log, because it is similar to the natural log function ln(x) in the sense that
ln(e^x) = x.
LW appears in a lot of unexpected places across many scientific disciplines. And I recently discovered it emerges naturally in the description of concentrated liquidity AMMs too!
Specifically, LW appears when you're trying to build a StableSwap-like AMM that tries to blend the properties of the constant-sum (CS) and constant-product (CP) equations in order to concentrate liquidity at a particular price.
I'll sketch a brief proof here. We start with a simple CS equation:
x + y = 2.
Multiply both sides by a concentration factor, c > 0. We have:
c(x + y) = 2c.
Now take a simple CP equation:
xy = 1.
Take the natural log of both sides, turning the left-hand side into a sum of logs. We have:
ln(x) + ln(y) = 0.
Both CS and CP are now defined in terms of sums. Add the modified CS and CP together:
c(x + y) + ln(x) + ln(y) = 2c.
Exponentiate both sides, multiply through by c, and rearrange:
cye^(cy) = ce^(2c - x) / x.
Take the product log W of both sides and solve for y:
y = (1 / c) * W(ce^(2c - x) / x)).
We call the final equation LAMMbert. Sorry.
(Note: this might simplify further, but I haven't delved deeper into how W operates).
Here is LAMMbert's graph in red, in between the CS and CP curves in black. It looks just like StableSwap, doesn't it?
Honestly, I don't know if there's an obvious use-case for LAMMbert today. It seems a little bit difficult to work with computationally. Certainly we're not planning to use it in EulerSwap.
However, I see people like @0xfoobar @optimizoor are working hard to make LW easier to compute in solidity, so maybe someone will bring it to life someday.
I note that others like @guil_lambert @CK_2049 @_Dave__White_ @ad_git have all encountered LW in their own work or expressed an interest in it. So perhaps there's further relations between LAMMbert, LW, and AMMs worth exploring.
Feel free to get involved if you spot something. See paper in GitHub repo below. Otherwise, here's hoping @danrobinson will add it to his AMM zoo and we can leave it in peace.
