#GazaReport December 12 - Hannukah Day #6
Let's not forget: Hamas can still surrender, even today, if it wants to stop the catastrophe it brought to Gaza. (& they slowly are doing so)
"Looking at the maps attached, you can tell the northern part of Gaza is about to fall.
Shajaiya is surrounded and bombarded constantly, so does Jabalya and Gaza city center
(Falastin square) is now a parking for tanks with an Israeli flag flying above.
The southern map shows Israel's takeover of Khan Yunis (the largest city size wise) but also the beginning of two arrows to capture Rafah along the Egyptian border."
Urban warfare 🔻 IDF friendly fire 🔻 North Gaza breaking 🔻 Civilian Casualty Rate
Gaza Report
December 12 - Hannukah Day #6
Today's report will be dedicated to tackle myths about urban warfare, especially for those who think this war is yet another PlayStation game.
🔻Prolog: from a Shajaiya Facebook page: "The magnitude of the defeat we feel can collapse mountains." Nobody objected.

🔻Looking at the maps I attached, you can tell the northern part of Gaza is about to fall. Shajaiya is surrounded and bombarded constantly, so does Jabalya and Gaza city center (Falastin square) is now a parking for tanks with an Israeli flag flying above. The southern map shows Israel's take over of Khan Yunis (the largest city size wise) but also the beginning of two arrows to capture Rafah along the Egyptian border.
🔻What about the central part, between Gaza city and Khan Yunis? It's almost completely blocked from both sides, disconnected from supplies and the command chain. Terrorists are waiting in their tunnels for 65 days now, gasping for air in the dark. They'll soon surrender too.
🔻People constantly ask "why does a country with submarines need so much time to conquer Gaza?" To start with, submarines are useless in the narrow streets of Gaza. But seriously, people aren't aware of how deadly and dangerous urban fighting is.
Hamas had 17 years since it seized control of Gaza, to build a the biggest urban fortress ever. A tunnel system that runs underneath with shafts simply everywhere, booby traps, snipers, explosive devices everywhere (in walls, under the roads, around tunnel shafts), equipment stashes in every building, including schools, mosques and hospitals. It takes time to dismantle all this, but the IDF came prepared. See video in comments that shows the amount of weapons discovered in regular houses.
🔻Speaking of how difficult urban battle is, the IDF reported today 20% of its casualties are from friendly fire (13) or accidents (7).
It is an impossible challenge controlling the operations of so many units (ground, air and naval) and keeping them from targeting each other. The difficult environment, the ruins that give endless hiding spots, the fatigue, the huge amount of soldiers in a small area - no army can escape these statistics (30% friendly fire casualty rate on average). The IDF has a central command and control system that creates a unified image. Although it cannot bring accidents to zero, the estimated casualty rate before the operation began was much (much!) higher.
🔻Unfortunately, civilian casualties are part of every modern war. The days of two armies fighting on a deserted field are long gone. Does Israel do it's best to minimize those casualties? Certainly more than others.
The Civilian Casualty Rate tells how many civilians died for every combatant. The UN talks about 9 (see link). Israel got this rate down to ~3 (even if we believe Hamas's inflated numbers, that count combatants as civilians). https://t.co/bI0NXAUm17
The number of civilian deaths per airstrike if also impressively low. Israel, unlike other armies, warns civilians to run away, makes phone calls to convince people to evacuate, showers leaflets from planes and so on. What grown up Gazans decide to do with this information is their responsibility.
🔻Israeli defense minister: Hamas terrorists are surrendering in hundreds and they tell us what happens. When they go out, they said they were short of weapons and food. The last strongholds in the north, the "castles" that Hamas took years to build against Israel, are about to break.
🔻The IDF introduced a new rifle sight called "dagger" (see image) that helps tracking and shooting moving objects, such as enemy combatants or drones. To see it in action, watch the video in the comments.
🔻Let's not forget: Hamas can still surrender, even today, if it wants to stop the catastrophe it brought to Gaza.

#GazaReport December 11 - Hannukah Day #5
🔻The Israeli government decided yesterday no workers from Judea and Samaria will be allowed into Israel. More ripples from Hamas's massacre are reaching the West Bank. Tens of thousands are out of job now thanks to Hamas, and it will not change soon. Trust was broken and the effect will be devastating. What will Palestinians do?
📷Israel's attack in Khan Yunis shocks Hamas which in return threatens to execute hostages it still holds. How will the public see Hamas if it happens?
What will Israel do in return?
Remember Israel holds thousands of convicted terrorists that Hamas so wanted to release - it can execute 30 Hamas prisoners for each hostage.
🔻Arab Christians in the IDF can now add the official Israeli Christian flag patch on their uniform (see picture). It’s been reported that since Oct 7, Arab Christians, who are not legally required to serve in the Israeli army, have been volunteering in record numbers. Credit: @beholdisrael

🔻Muhammed Mardawi, high ranking Hamas official, rejects Israel's demand for allowing the Red Cross to visit the hostages. So what's the Red Cross good for? Driving hostages out of Gaza? It's about time Israel stops all humanitarian aid to Gaza until all hostages, including many elderly men, are visited and get the medical attention they need.
🔻The Shin Bet spokeswoman is publishing this evening: Yosef Almansi (see picture), the former Hamas Minister of Communications, in an unprecedented criticism of the Hamas leadership and its leader Yahya Sinwar: "This is a group of madmen led by Sinwar. They destroyed the Gaza Strip. I have not seen anyone in the Gaza Strip who supports Sinwar, nobody likes him. Hamas's achievements are the destruction of over 60% of the building, streets and public infrastructures. October 7 was a disgrace to Islam, it's madness. They took us 200 years back."

🚨 #GazaReport| Israeli Occupation Forces have escalated their actions in Gaza by targeting vital facilities and tightening the siege on the Gaza Strip:
Tanks and military vehicles have been deployed in various areas, and Israeli forces have specifically targeted hospitals, health centers, schools, and UNRWA shelters.
The siege has been intensified on the roads leading to the Indonesian Hospital in Jabalia, northern Gaza, and Israeli forces have surrounded the Ministry of Education building in Sheikh Zayed neighborhood and the "Tel Al-Zaatar" area in Jabalia camp.
This has resulted in the denial of medical aid access to civilians in Jabalia camp, where the Occupation bombardment has been ongoing. The #IndonesianHospital has also been repeatedly shelled, caused at least 12 was martyred and injuries, and significant damage to the hospital buildings.
Dozens of tanks are stationed on Omar Al-Mukhtar Street near the Legislative Council, the port area, and the Ansar Complex in the Al-Rimal neighborhood, northeast of Gaza. Additional tanks are located near the Shabia Junction in the Al-Daraj neighborhood, and military vehicles surround the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood from the southeast and eastern-central side near the "Dawla Junction."
The Israeli occupation army has transformed the Gaza seaport into a military barracks, with tanks gathering there after destroying the port's facilities. The Al-Suwaidi clinic, affiliated with the #UNRWA, has also been turned into a military barrack after being completely demolished in the north of the Beach Camp.
In the Al-Nasr area, northwest of Gaza, dozens of tanks are positioned around the Al-Nasr Children's Hospital, where intense clashes have occurred.
Furthermore, the Israeli army continues extensive demolition work inside Al-Shifa Hospital and its surroundings after evacuating 31 injured children and transferring them to a hospital in Egypt through the Rafah Crossing. Many patients in the emergency department of Al-Shifa Hospital are awaiting arrangements by the Red Cross and the United Nations to be transferred to hospitals in the south or to Egypt.
The Israeli occupation forces have also expanded their airstrikes on the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of numerous Palestinians, the majority of whom were displaced from the south and seeking shelter in two schools in Khan Yunis.
