#Chemistryhasaproblem I’m really tired of constantly having to be aware of all the issues that stop Black chemists from getting through the pipeline from ages 0-25. Various institutions could better fund outreach at all points, but actively choose not to.
#ChemistryHasAProblem has been a tough topic to learn from. Not enough posts that are Chemistry-specific, and the issues shared exist in other disciplines.
For the future, perhaps a form for others to report anonymously instead?

#ChemistryHasAProblem we need to have a strike about better pay on the highest of keys because I find it mind boggling that people are doing LIFE SAVING experiments and companies can sit there and offer 50k, is it crack??
Another #ChemistryHasAProblem and some folks might wanna tussle but experience > degree, but those with experience will get overlooked for a position and end up training the PhD, especially in industry.
Ok last one and it’s for STEM as a whole!
You can educate, inform and explain subjects without making people feel inadequate, unprepared and undervalued. Remember we all have to start somewhere. Your expertise is never an excuse to be an asshole. 🫶🏾

Let’s normalize students doing well and excelling in chem courses. I’ve had plenty professors brag about how only 1 to 2 students get an A out of their class each semester… this is NOT a flex! Teach & support so the majority can understand and earn A’s

the Provost office is no longer funding the Faculty of Color Network at Purdue. in fact, we have to change our name on internal documentation because we can't reference race) which is great given how hostile this campus is to the folks in the network!
