#Somaliland #CitizensView #Opinion After seeing an increasing campaigns addressing the current and future economic, political & security situation of our Country SOMALILAND, I have decided to raise the important issue of “ Public Discourse “. In times like now it becomes very important to constantly highlight and discuss about the state of public discourse and leadership in our country. Indeed, while we excel at championing others' narratives and aspirations, and it is disheartening to see the lack of sophistication within our society. It’s frightening to notice the lack of a meaningful critical analysis, and evidence-based reasoning in much of our own content and conversations. It is very evident and every where the herd mentality prevails over independent, critical thinking. We are currently navigating through a "political hurricane," and as a citizen I want to underscore the #URGENT need for a sound and effective leadership , a well-informed public and credible media that holds power to account. The importance of real statesmanship and the nurturing of well-informed, articulate young citizens cannot be overstated and is paramount if our Nation SOMALILAND is to withstand the ongoing political and security turbulence happening in the Horn of Africa . These above elements are crucial if we are serious about securing a prosperous future for our country. The questions we must ask ourselves are 👇 We need a clear, honest assessment of our current socio-political and economic landscape. A) Where do we want our Country to be tomorrow We should have a vision for our future that encompasses long-term goals and aspirations. B) What are our clear plans, detailed, timed and costed . We need detailed, actionable plans that address both immediate and long-term needs. C) What are the risks, opportunity costs, benefits and unknowns A thorough analysis of potential challenges and opportunities is necessary to make informed decisions. D) And finally the most important thing is , the mandate, who is doing what. Clear definition of authorities. Politicians often employ various strategies to gain support, which is a universal trait. However, in robust democracies, they are held accountable by institutions, media, and an informed citizenry that scrutinizes their statements and policies. This culture of scrutiny and fact-checking is vital in preventing public disappointment and fostering trust in governance but in our Country, that crucial aspect is non existent, our society are artificially made into two camps, one part that supports the government and status qou blindly and the other part which automatically opposes the government and status qou. This is to to detrimental to our democracy and state building. As we reflect on our current path, we must ask whether we (Somalilanders) are honoring the sacrifices of our forebears. Are we truly committed to safeguarding and valuing the freedom they fought for? It is easy to pay lip service to their legacy, but much harder to take the necessary steps to protect and enhance the ideals they have fought for, liberty, justice, freedom, respect, transparency, good governance, democracy , equality and more. Are we safeguarding these ideals and causes they have fought for? To move forward, we need to cultivate a culture of critical thinking, robust public discourse, and accountability. This requires investment in education, support for independent media, and the encouragement of civic engagement among our educated young ( in SOMALILAND and in Diaspora). Only by doing so can we ensure that we are building a SOMALILAND future that is worthy of our past sacrifices and aspirations. SOMALILAND GUUL🙏🙏

In times like now it becomes very important to constantly highlight and discuss about the state of public discourse and leadership in our country.
