@Alec_Zeck All of government is conjured from nothing, like magic,
as Lysander Spooner proved 150 years ago.

Statists direct hate at the "bad" party who they believe is their enemy.
Meanwhile, both parties use coercion, intimidation & violence against peaceful people.
Hopefully, they will discover that #CoercionIsTheProblem & start promoting voluntary, consensual relationships asap.
How about no more mandatory shots into children
and no mandatory attendance schools?
Maybe #CoercionIsTheProblem
and #ConsentIsTheSolution.
WE WILL NOT COMPLY!!!
@morgonn @AK4WA God gives us freedom.
Government and monarchs have been trying to steal it from us.

I like @BradyAnderson40's thought here.
He felt like there are two reasons students hate their classes:
1. They may lack discipline
2. They're not in the right environment
Would you add anything to that list?

Teaching the importance of consent starts with understanding the nature of authority.
When we shame or complain that children won't hug us we are implying that there are sometimes when a person has the right to demand affection from another.
nope. #coercionistheproblem
The school environment is rarely conducive for calmness for both teachers and students. You would think they would team up more often to make it better for each other.

If I’m only doing a task to avoid pain or get a reward, then the task must not be worth doing.
These are the unintended messages of coercion. #coercionistheproblem
I don’t punish my kids for losing their temper. I show them how I maintain mine.

William Glasser’s Quality World metaphor describes why so many children hate school more clearly and completely than anyone else I’ve read.

The messages kids receive about authority and how power or influence is allowed to be used are among my great fears in education and child-rearing practices today.

Unless you’re an educator...because they HAVE to learn in YOUR class right?
All these attributes are felt differently by our students and we don’t get to decide how they perceive us.
Will the system even allow you to live like this with your students?

Authentic leaders are proud but not arrogant. #leadership

I can be a little hard on educators sometimes. It's nothing personal. I'm meeting a lot of new educators on here that really do care for children.
I won't apologize for being hard on the system though. #coercionistheproblem
Follow carefully. Carol’s wit and relentless pursuit of student rights can challenge your assumptions on what learning is all about.

@GN_ARC @LesterJMilton @Sisyphus38 @Provokedpedagog @SOLEatHome @RufusWilliam @debrakidd @rich_in_norwich Plus a good mechanic, electrician, carpenter, chef can make better money than many people with desk jobs make. The idea that there's something superior about pushing paper (or being on a computer) for a living is nonsense.
Very excited to meet new people and see @TallgrassSudbur in person today. Helen has been so helpful in scheduling my visit.
I want to establish a school like this in #Indy where students direct their coursework and their community.

Should I use punishments or rewards?
Traditionalists favored punishments and became parents to Gen-x, the apathetic, and “unbelievers.”
Baby Boomers favored rewards and rose up millenials. The lazy and aimless.
2 sides of the same coin. #coercionistheproblem
When we look at a bridge we don't say, "I love how those beams are keeping each other accountable." They're supporting each other. A well-supported bridge may not prevent a problem from occurring but can prevent a problem from spreading. #education #coercionistheproblem
I am not an advocate for self-directed education because it is more effective, though I think it is, but because it is the most respectful approach to the rights of our children. #coercionistheproblem
