Patrick Jones, the 1st person in federal prison to die of COVID-19, applied 4 a sentence reduction under First Step Act. The prosecutors on the case opposed it. So because of tough-on-crime policies, Jones' sentence 4 a non-violent drug offense remained in place. It took his life
