However ... NOT "public ownership" but #CommonOwnership.
NOT just holding the shares in trust - but legally excising the possibility of shares in perpetuity.
Tell Sid ... 😉😉😉
If we fail to talk about #Socialism, all day and every day, we will definitely fail to achieve any of it.

I'm at a conference, and people ask me whether #commonownership had any real-world impact. Should I resume my tweeting activity on the subject?
Just a few months ago, the EC enforced a common-ownership case!

ONLY re-industrialistion with #CommonOwnership under #TheDictatorshipOfTheProletariat can now achieve the necessary reversal.
Nothing less will do.
Very cool to be back at #HLS to chair a session at this exciting Harvard-Oxford conference on #commonownership organized by the fantastic & brilliant @martincschmalz & @elhauge! Without them there would be no such theory as we know it. Can't wait to catch with old & new friends!
Tomorrow is the registration deadline for the
Harvard-Oxford Conference on Common Ownership, Common Directors, Governance, and Competition
Check out the fantastic program.
And please spread the word!
I hope to see many of you there!

We need to think about this world in #CommonOwnership & stop being content just to be exploited for a wage.
Good perspective on #UBI by @floydmarinescu:
The land is ours - UBI is ground rent
AI profits from human knowledge & creativity - UBI should be our dividend as shareholders
Bravo @guardian 💯
This article has the proper framing of UBI that advocates should adopt: as compensation to citizens for the enclosure of our common wealth — this includes land, natural resources, and AIs trained on humanity. Sadly, the title doesn't reflect this: It's not money for nothing, it's dividends to citizens as shareholders.
"The concept of a guaranteed basic income might seem novel or neoteric, but it dates back to 1795, when the American founding father Thomas Paine suggested a “national fund” should pay every adult “rich or poor” a “ground rent” of £10 a year until the age of 50. Earth is “the common property of the human race”, he argued, so everyone has been collectively dispossessed by “the introduction of the system of landed property” and was entitled to compensation."
"Howard [Dr. @NeilPHoward] likens the large language models of AI that rely on the aggregated collection of human knowledge to the enclosure of the commons, which began in the 1600s and privatised most of England’s common land. “The common wealth of the world and of humanity, should, by rights, belong to all of us,” says Howard. “It has been appropriated by the few – and that leads the many to either have to struggle to survive or simply not effectively do so. So there’s justice underpinning the claim of UBI."
We should distinguish UBI as social dividends from common resources, from the more commonly referred-to Guaranteed Basic Income (i.e. what politicians usually mean when they say UBI), an anti-poverty measure to help those most in need. The former is a universal payment to citizens that should be viewed as a form of property right, by virtue of our co-inherited wealth from nature, technology, and society as a whole; the latter is a poverty alleviation program, so that everyone can enjoy equality of opportunity to pursue their potential.
As advocates and policymakers continue the important work towards Guaranteed Basic Income to solve poverty, there's a growing parallel movement for UBI dividends to give everyone a stake in an automating economy. It's how we realize the potential of technology to shorten workweeks and the path to a Star Trek future of shared abundance.

@BPellegrino_CBS and I just finished a revision of our paper on the economy-wide welfare costs & distributional effects of #CommonOwnership.
TL;DR
We estimate that the deadweight loss of common ownership has increased to between 3.5% and 13.2% of total surplus.

Are you annoyed by the endless tweeting about #commonownership and #collusion?
Here's a deal: I stop tweeting about this when you tell our not-on-twitter colleagues that most of this literature is NOT ABOUT COLLUSION.
Until this stops appearing in the referee reports I receive.
