Could running a fast mile help you live longer?
A study on 200 men, all of whom broke the 4-minute mile barrier, found that they lived an average of 4.7 years longer than the general population.
Researchers also compared life expectancy among runners who competed in the Olympics vs. those who didn’t.
They found no longevity benefit to being an Olympian: Olympians and non-Olympians lived 4.1 years and 5.7 years beyond their predicted life expectancy, respectively.
