Satellite animation of #CycloneEllie running from 06:40 UTC 2nd January to 14:20 UTC 6th January 2023. In the latest frames, the ex-tropical #cyclone is firing up some convection again, but it will not last for too long. #Ellie's remnants will fully decay within the next 3 days.

#CycloneEllie has been inland since Dec 22 yet continues to exhibit an impressive presentation in both radar and satellite imagery. It has even intensified over land as it edged back toward the coast with pressures falling to about 985 mb. Heavy rain is producing record floods.

Warning, personal opinion! I am not really sure why #CycloneEllie is tracked as a remnant low or as an ex-tropical #cyclone. With winds hovering between 55km/h and 65km/h, and the structure the current radar imagery is revealing, #Ellie is likely still a tropical low/cyclone.

#Wet #Season definitely has arrived for #Broome recording 206mm to 9am Tuesday and another 62mm since 9am Wednesday. EX #CycloneEllie is the reason for all this #rainfall as she basically is stationary over the #Kimberley region dumping very large rainfalls over the past 2 weeks.
