#OTD in 1991, #CycloneMarian was active to the northwest of #Australia and would shortly reach its peak intensity. Elsewhere, there was an extremely unusual occurrence of a tropical cyclone in the southeastern Atlantic, commonly referred to as the #Angola tropical storm of 1991.

#Tropical #cyclone #Marian (Typhoon 22S) is currently at 18.25S and 89.46E, with an intensity of 954.3MB and Vmax of 102 knots. The clear eye is distinctly visible. Weakening but not dissipating. Global models ruling out of landfall. #CycloneMarian

Severe #CycloneMarian is looking quite symettrical on latest WV except for that one keyhole in the S Quad, the MW scan from 4 hrs prev looks better, hinting at some recent degen. Despite this conditions (low VWS high SST) fav. for further intens., currently 80 kt (150km/h) sus.
