This is a long post, but would like to give you some context : The tenants in both developments have been fighting this since 2019 for about seven years. Every #nyc mayor from #DeBlasio to #Mamdani, plus all the elected officials on the west side in the district, esp #ErikBottcher have supported this redevelopment plan — in the face of tenant opposition. The tenants and allies have written letters, attended events, protested, have had extensive media attention — and now are in court, with a legal team, because we have a TRO with the appellate division, and are awaiting another ruling to extend it as well as abolish the plan because it violates public housing law 402B and ULURP. With @MicahLasher in office, of course, we will reach out to him. But I’m sure you can understand what we’re up against: Big real estate, that funds and supports campaigns of all the elected officials, (whether it’s transparent, or not) and a system that rewards #REBNY and landlord unaccountability. With the tenants being ignored, or the door slammed in their face, for the past seven years, I wish it were so easy just to ask Mr. Lasher can put it on his agenda.
