The illegal and unconstitutional usurper, the murderous fascist @ChiefAdviserGoB, is conducting the so-called ‘Devil Hunt’ operation to suppress opposition and solidify its illegitimate grip on power. In the last two days alone, more than 1,500 people have been arrested through this joint force operation. This illegal occupying government is establishing a reign of terror to cement its power, ensuring that the people cannot raise their voices to demand their rights. By resorting to mass arrests, this illegitimate regime has adopted a scorched-earth policy to silence the nation. Hundreds of innocent people, including mothers with their nursing infants, have been unjustly detained merely for their political beliefs. In some cases, elderly parents have been arrested when their sons were not found.
In Khulna’s Terokhada Upazila, Madhupur Union Awami League Joint Secretary Akhtar Shikdar was arrested by the joint forces and brutally tortured, leading to his death in custody. This is nothing short of a manhunt—a bloodthirsty campaign to establish a kingdom free of opposition. Instead of calling it ‘Devil Hunt,’ it should rightfully be named ‘Innocent People Are Hunted by the Devil.’
Recently, with the direct patronage of the government, state-sponsored terrorism has been used to incite mobs to destroy the historic #BangabandhuBhaban at #Dhanmondi32—a site deeply tied to the memory of the Father of the Nation, #Bangabandhu #SheikhMujiburRahman, and the glorious history of Bangladesh’s Liberation War. Following this, under the so-called leadership of ‘coordinators,’ mob terrorists have attacked, vandalized, looted, and set fire to the homes of nearly fifty #AwamiLeague leaders and activists across the country. However, in Gazipur, local residents united to resist a mob attack on the home of Gazipur District Awami League President and former Minister of Liberation War Affairs, A.K.M. Mozammel Haque. They successfully repelled these criminals.
Fearful of the people's indomitable power of resistance, this illegitimate government has now launched ‘Devil Hunt’ as a declaration of war against the people, aiming to protect its own state-sponsored looters and terrorists. This operation was announced right after the people's resistance in Gazipur. As part of this, nearly 300 people have already been arrested in Gazipur alone, alongside mass arrests nationwide. Despite these efforts, the government-backed mobsters continue their rampage, sparking widespread outrage across the country. People are now forming their own resistance movements.
At both national and international levels, condemnation against this illegal government is mounting. To divert attention, an advisor to this regime has attempted to portray the mob as "devils" in a misleading political narrative. However, the government’s actions expose the hollowness of this claim—because the real culprits behind these mob attacks are clearly identified, yet none of them are being arrested. The reason is simple: the illegal government itself is nurturing and protecting these dark forces.
Nevertheless, on behalf of the Bangladesh Awami League, we extend our gratitude to the people of this country for standing firmly against these demonic forces. We also call upon the nation to make the previously announced programs a resounding success: the torch procession across the country on February 17 and the full-scale, dawn-to-dusk, strict hartal on February 18.
With the united resistance of the people, we will defeat this evil force, Inshallah.
