In Dr. Natasha Jones’ lecture this morning, she reminded us that the classroom is a radical space and one in which to change and critique citation practices that reinforce dominant narratives of our fields #DMAC2023
Today, #DMAC2023 begins with a presentation by Drs. Michael Blancato and Sherita Roundtree, entitled "Noise Inside and Outside the Classroom." In it, they discuss the pedagogical and personal potentials of noise, as well as how it can be oppressive for marginalized students.
Dr. Jonathan Buehl rounds out a presentation-packed morning at #DMAC2023 with his lecture on the rhetorical utility and digital media foundations of graphical abstracts in scientific articles.
Up next at #DMAC2023 is @christateston with a presentation on reader experience testing, in which she previews the brand new RX (reader experience) testing lab on the fourth floor of Denney Hall! This multipurpose space provides new opportunities for research in various areas.
Today's session of #DMAC2023 begins with a presentation and breakout workshop led by Jenny Patton called "Recharge and Gain Insight through Journaling," where participants discuss what drains and energizes them.
