Thank you @NFTIAfrica for 5 incredible years! From Teaching Assistant @ClickOnKaduna to leading the Data Analytics team, your support shaped my Data Science journey. It’s been a rollercoaster of growth, impact, and lifelong bonds. #DataforSocialGood

Fatima Tafoki’s journey with the Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation is a story of resilience, growth, and impact. She first joined Natview in June 2019 as a Teaching Assistant for the World Bank's Click-On Kaduna Digital Skills Program, where she supported participants in mastering technical concepts and assisted instructors in creating an engaging learning experience. After completing her first assignment with the program, Fatima returned as a volunteer, coordinating content and managing the Learning Management System (LMS) for three months during the organization’s virtual training for remote jobs. This role became especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic, as she helped facilitate remote learning and ensure participants continued to thrive despite global challenges.
In September 2020, Fatima officially became a Program Officer at NFTI. In this role, she served as Program Manager, where she managed fellows, coordinated instructors, oversaw the LMS, and ensured smooth project implementation. While working in this capacity, she also contributed to the Health Facility Census (HEFA) project, where she supported its socialization, delivered training for state-level actors including the Kaduna Bureau of Statistics (KDBS), State Ministry of Health and State primary healthcare board and collaborated closely with stakeholders to strengthen the data ecosystem around health facilities.
From there, her career at NFTI grew rapidly. Over the past five years, Fatima has contributed to and led numerous projects that have shaped how data is collected, analyzed, and used for decision-making. She worked on the COVID-19 Dashboard and Situation Reports, ensuring accurate data cleaning and pipelines that fed real-time insights to policymakers. Later, she transitioned to the Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS) project, where she managed fellows and led the transition from paper-based reporting to digital systems. With a team of eight fellows, she co-developed the ISS tool and later supported dashboard reviews that gave state and local governments stronger data for health system monitoring.
Her leadership extended into the General Household survey dashboard, where she worked with the NFTI’s software team and KDBS team to build a dashboard that the state is using for better decisions. She spearheaded the first Click-On Kaduna Datathon, bringing together young people to create exciting apps and portfolios around handling, collecting, cleaning and parsing unstructured data into structured data for insights discovery and decision making.
She also contributed to the Digital Access Project, where she and her team developed the action plan for Kaduna’s Digital Economy, and was part of the core design team for the Fasaha Project, which is focused on advancing digital transformation.
Fatima has also played a central role in high level diagnostic and strategic projects. On the Kano Operational Data Diagnostic Project, she managed field operations, data management, and reporting, particularly around supply chain management, healthcare financing and service delivery. With the GeoStar Project, she traveled across six states conducting environmental scans to better understand how health data was being managed and used to serve the public good. In 2023, she also worked on a Rockefeller Foundation supported assessment of the Kaduna State Identity Management Agency, and led the KADRIMAA Capacity assessment, and developed a strategic capacity building calendar to strengthen the agency’s learning management system.
Her consistent dedication and ability to lead earned her a promotion to Senior Program Officer at NFTI in 2023, where she now heads the Data Analytics team. In this role, she focuses on simplifying complex data, triangulating evidence, and producing realistic insights that guide government policies and partner interventions. She has been central to the Longitudinal
