The old saying goes, “if you build it, they will come,” which is exactly what happened when @JeremyBrace started building an explorer for $IQ inscriptions; then peaking the interest of @solkek2 who then used our newly released SDK to launch SPL-2.0 earlieer this week.
What’s SPL-2.0?
SPL-2.0 is a novel SPL metaprotocol where users mint a redeemable inscription asset that can be traded for a token at a later date. It is a fair-launch standard for tokens on Solana. Everyone mints under the same rules and price, the protocol then creates and permanently locks DEX liquidity, and only after that does trading begin.
No presale. No team bags. No sniper advantage. Just one set of rules for everyone.
Most launches open trading first, and then fix everything later; leading to insider edges, instant dumps, or liquidity drama.
SPL2.0 flips the order: mint → validate → lock liquidity → then trade.

A note on validation (Today vs. near future)
Today: validation is a distinct step. This separation allows everyone to see and understand how an inscription becomes a token, keeps the process auditable (dedupes/filters invalid lines), and lets explorers show progress transparently.
What’s next: we are actively packaging validation and minting into a single step to streamline UX. One click, two fair events. The variables don’t change: no presales, no insider allocation, permanently locked LP, and on-chain verifiability.

Roy, here is a question for you. Look at @deggen's statement below. Can you discuss how #Galaxy #NPrint etc compare to #Overlay, your thoughts on #DataOnChain etc? I'm looking for ELI5 level non-tech explanation personally - think #Marketing
I guess it's also worth asking - what do you mean structure data Onchain? I've found that in many cases the best approach is actually to NOT put the data on chain, but rather to make use of the blockchain's properties to negotiate a contract to store data, like UHRP does. Or to make use of offchain values in the overlays, which now support this. If it's for later evaluation within smart contracts then it does make sense to put the data on chain, otherwise usually a hash will do just fine.
Data integrity isn't optional in a digital-first world. Blockchain provides the audit trail we didn't know we needed.
