#DearMerseyside is a poem by young Liverpool poet Joseph Roberts – it’s powerful, honest and full of hope.
Essentially a love letter to #Merseyside, it gives a voice to young people growing up in areas worst affected by serious and organised crime.
It addresses the problems they face such as gang culture and knife crime while offering solutions and hope, reflecting on the ‘love where you live’ ethos behind Clear, Hold, Build – known here in Merseyside as #EVOLVE.
It’s part of our work to build safer, stronger communities and is a wider school-based project with Joseph delivering spoken word workshops to young people, guiding them how to write them own versions and helping them to find their voice.
