Today, the @NOLACityCouncil passed the 2023 Budget for the City of New Orleans. This "back-to-basics" budget addresses residents' needs in many ways. A quick 🧵on what some of these investments look like.
I caution everyone against the impulse to try to “reform” our way out of this. Police convictions, disciplinary processes, consent decrees, local/federal monitors, & trainings have ALL failed to prevent, address, or reduce the violence inherent to policing.
