This man is deluded. From the outbreak confirmation in March the USG took until July to get a few volunteer employees to go help. Some had no Ebola experience and some bought (not brought) their own gloves. #Ebola2014 was a criminal shambles.
I led USAID's response to the 2014-15 outbreak in West Africa.
Also went to Congo with WHO to assess response at peak of the 2019 outbreak (under Trump 1).
Those were both robust USG ops.
That capacity has now been wrecked.

This email substantiates that reliable sample storage and transport were/are challenging problems and that, at least from the date of that email, which followed the #Ebola2014 outbreak, concerns were at senior levels. Super! If anyone knows more let me know please. Thank you!

The #Ebola2014 strain was named 'Makona'. It is 400 nucleotides different from any strain previously found. There have been subsequent #Ebola outbreaks very similar to it but only in https://t.co/HkCCuTqiww. These last might be relic infections or #lableaks. Hard to say for sure.
@garyruskin @USRightToKnow Good article. But I thought that the main evidence for a lab leak was that the virus was identical to a strain many years earlier, i.e. it has been in a freezer for a while.
Am I wrong, or is this critical evidence missing?
