#MustRead and #MustShare 🔁 Rama and Aditya are both suffering from DMD, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy- a rare progressive muscular disorder that affects boys. Both the brothers had a very normal first few years of their life, doing things that kids their age do: cricket, football and jumping around until one day, when the parents realized that the elder one was getting weak physically. The doctors broke the sad news to them. Usually when one kid has it, there's 99% chance that all the other male siblings have it too. There's no treatment available for this. Basically the parents just have to see their kids turn into a vegetables and slowly die. Most kids are bedridden within a year or two of diagnosis and don't make it past their teens. Their parents requested me to help spread awareness about this disease. There's a pre-natal test that the mother can take around the 3rd month of pregnancy costing around 3000 rupees. And may be the pregnancy can be terminated at that point if the foetus is found to have DMD. Please do look up this disease and help spread the word.
